about

The title is derived from a longer Philip K. Dick quotation which resonates regarding the performative nature of what is presented to the world. The ubiquitous mask, which was ubiquitous before, of course, but perhpas more subtly so.

Each piece uses acoustic samples as its foundation, be that an actual instrument such as a koto, or the ambient sounds of an Osaka street.
These sounds are treated, programmed, and re-contextualized.

"What scared me the most was when my father would put on the gasmask. His face would disappear... This was not a human being at all." - Philip K. Dick
